My Emberpulse® has proven to be incredibly helpful in budgeting. Weekly reports and daily checks allow me to track my usage, cost to date and predicted quarterly bill amount. It allows me to control my electricity consumption to stay within budget if needs be. Predictions are fairly accurate, a few dollars over actual cost. I've been able to stay within budget every quarter, usually with leftover to pop onto the mortgage!
I've had my Emberpulse® for a couple of years now and the advice get from them is spot on.
They even advised me on upgrading my solar panels from a 2kWh system to a 6.6 kWh, also on installation of the new system where one of the arrays was inadvertently left switched off and without the Emberpulse®, we would never have known until the next bill then probably overlooked it. I know a lot of people say that if you have a smart meter you can get the same information through the provider's app but to me, it is not as concise and usually arrives two days later.
Also, Alyson in customer service is a gem; nothing is too much trouble to her and her advice and patience is unbelievable - even down to changing providers etc. In a nutshell we couldn't keep track of energy and solar usage without the Emberpulse®.
Very happy with ours. We can see how the tiny system the previous owners installed is barely exporting so it’s worth losing the premium feed in tariff to upgrade. So we’ve had one chat with an installer to start that process and they will use the data from this to help plan our new system. We’ve also switched off the bar fridge and the caravan fridge and are running lean and mean in our house now. Very good information to have.
Best little gadget - very eye opening as to power consumption. I can remotely watch on my phone and tell the kids to turn lights off in rooms they aren’t in!!
Had mine installed today. What an eye opener! Turned on the clothes dryer and saw the cost per hour immediately. This will be a behaviour modifier. Great product!
It's great, I go around turning off stuff to keep it green. It's definitely helped us save money.
I have one of these too. It is a very handy device for monitoring power, and managing using solar power vs importing grid power. It is so good, that I even figured out while I was on holidays that I had too much power consumption at home while nobody was there. It turned out when I got home that our fridge condenser fan had failed, so the fridge compressor pump was on nearly all of the time, using electricity. All fixed now.
